Having lived in and around Flagstaff off and on for years, I figured it was time to go underground. A friend of mine was visiting from Tucson and had wanted to see the lava tube. I used to live on the Big Island, so I've seen a lava tube or two. But I agreed it might be fun.
But I really didn't like it very much. I am not claustrophobic, but I do get bored easily, especially with boring scenery. My friend was determined to go to the end of the thing, so we did. It was just more of the same, with a few low places. I got a headache, partly from the headlamp strap. By the time we were finished I ended up taking my prescription med for migraine.
Guess what? I won't be tempted into going there again. Not going to take my friends there. But I am glad I went so that I can now picture what it's like. I tried to take some photos but they didn't turn out that great.
