| no partners | | Had a plan for a backpack trip to Taylor Cabin via Casner Mountain and Dogie Trail, however the 525C was closed about 8 miles away from either TH. Being disappointed, frustrated, and not wanting to road walk for 6 hours of my hike, I opted to just pull over and hike about 5 miles off the road. Went up to the top of a few small hills and found a lot of hunter's stuff out there like chairs, blinds, and lots of trash. Found a great camp spot under a tree and setup a tarp and tent for the night. Surprisingly, there was no rain at night. The most proven way to prevent getting rained on is to lug all of your rain gear with you wherever you go. Not wanting to go back just yet, I went over to Boynton Canyon and tried to check out some of the ruin sites. I didnt have that much time left and the scramble up those hills are very difficult, especially when its all muddy. Only made it to the first 'ruins' site and looks like it was pretty ancient, maybe 1 year or so old. Wish there were some more signs prior to getting there to inform of the road closure. Oh well, plans change and you make the best of it! |
