| no partners | | Little enjoyable stroll up Deer to check out a spot in Bars I spotted on topo/satellite that I was curious about.
A mile below Dave’s Grave there was a group of kind FS volunteers clipping catclaw, I thanked them, chatted for a second and proceeded on.
Bars Canyon travel was rough to heavy flow and dense unforgiving vegetation so we bounced up to a ridge instead which in some areas of the Mazzies that is the way to go for off trail travel.
The “hallway” section of the gorge was awesome and just as expected we were greeted by a raging 35 footer situated in such a cool narrow strip of canyon.
A little blood was given, numerous wet crossings and a few fence obstacles but once back on the trail we enjoyed the pleasant walk back to the TH next the roaring sound of Deer Creek. |
