Parked at the Goldmine trailhead and dealt with the workout portion first, Goldmine Mountain, then proceeded sneezing along Goldmine, San Tan, Hedgehog and Dynamite trails. My low expectations for wildflowers was pleasantly exceeded ,not abundant but more than I’ve spotted here before , most of the color though provided by Brittle Bush.Faced a strong headwind going toward the park headquarters and war memorial and a tail wind most of the way back, saw one hiker leaving the trailhead wearing a face mask , presume due to the wind and not Covid 19 . Passed by a few bikers probably only 4 total but multiple passes made it seem like more, not that many hikers for a Friday and no horse traffic today. No wildlife spotted today unless you count ground squirrels and lizards. The finish on Dynamite Trail was downhill so the warming temps were not a problem, finished before noon. |
