It was overcast with occasional bits of sunshine. The hike was a lot steeper than expected and my son had to take multiple breathers. I thought the trail was entertaining with lots of opportunities to cross over the small stream many times with bridges. As we neared the top, the trail was on the north side of the mountain so the temperatures were low and the stream had frozen over. How exciting for a 13 year old boy!! He had fun trying to break the ice. Once we reached the lake, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was more than a mud hole and my son was rewarded for his exhausting climb with more frozen ice!!
The views were amazing and I can't wait to hike the trail again in the spring/summer and see the aspen trees and meadows lush and green. Then come next fall to see the yellow autumn leaves. It will be spectacular! |
