| no partners | | I had a free afternoon, and a hiking buddy of mine called up and wanted to get in a quick hike. We opted for the Hieroglyphics Trail, hoping that maybe, just maybe there would be a flow of water up there.
Not enough rain to make the flow last, so it was a tiny trickle when we arrived at the petroglyph wall. The pool was fully loaded with algae and bright green. The entire mountainside was also very green. This monsoonal season has given us some nice rains. Much better than the NONsoon of last year.
There were a few groups of hikers head down when we were heading up, but we had the place to ourselves once we arrived at the canyon mouth. We hiked up the canyon a little, but my phone kept ringing with work, so we decided to turn back and head to the truck.
With all the clouds and rain in the morning, I was hoping for cooler temps, but the sun made an appearance and heated things up. And, the humidity was brutal. Like hiking in Texas, swampy!
This hike is an easy one, but it is a really cool destination. No vehicles in the lot when we returned. That will be a different story in a few months. |
