Perast was a quick stopping point to take a ferry out to Our Lady on the Rocks—a small island in the bay that was built on a shallow reef and on which was constructed a church. A quarter mile away is a small, natural island with a Monestary built on it. The Monestary island is not open for public access, but we enjoyed the view of it from Our Lady on the Rocks.
After visiting Kotor, we continued on to Budva—a nice coastal town, with a walled old town (poor man’s Dubrovnik) and a tall island in the bay, which is referred to as the “Hawaii of Montenegro.”
We ate lunch at a seaside restaurant in Budva and then toured the old town, before heading back to Dubrovnik.
It took us awhile to get back across the Croatian border. |
