| no partners | | This was our last day in Munich, and we had a train to catch to Switzerland in the early afternoon. In a stroke of luck, our Airbnb owner said we could check out whenever we wanted, which was great so that we didn't have to find something to do with our luggage between checking out and hopping on the afternoon train.
So, we slept in a bit and then I went on a run. Our apartment was near the sight for the 1972 summer Olympics park, so I decided to run around there. That was the olympics at which 8 Palestinian terrorists invaded the Olympic village and killed two members of the Israeli team and held 9 others hostage. I saw a memorial to the victims.
Otherwise, the stadium and surrounding area were nice. They were holding a wakeboarding contest on the lake in the Olympic Park, and I could see the jumps, etc. in the lake.
The park has a trail up to a high point that allows you to look not only around the nearby area, but off towards downtown Munich. |
