Hiked to the saddle on the south end of Battleship Mountain. Back the same way. I was not ready for a day hike. The ascent from La Barge Canyon on the way back killed me. The final 2.5 miles was a painful end to what started out well.
Getting old or out of shape? Sticking with out of shape for now. The weather was sensational. Lots of hikers on the trail.
p.s The Boulder Canyon Trail is free of fire damage up to the intersection with Cavalry Trail.
