| partners | | Figured since the coming road closures, I needed to hike from the Reavis TH one more time before spring. I was pretty unsure what to expect with the falls at this time of year. They definitely weren't gushing like they do in the spring but there was still running water coming down the wall that I'd describe as more than a trickle. The creek was also flowing and the lower water levels made it somewhat easier to get to the actual falls.
I'd done this hike once before earlier this year in the spring and was pleasantly surprised that this is much more than just a "destination" hike. Even without gushing falls, this hike is well worth the effort of getting back out. I was pretty out of shape last time I came out of there and remember the week of soreness that followed. This time, I was totally ready and had no trouble. Wildlife was out today. We saw 5 mule deer, a couple ground snakes, and an extremely stubborn bull snake that didn't want to get out of our way. |
