| partners | | it's been quite awhile since angela and i have been able to hike together
we both like the goldfields, so we lifted another idea from @hikerdw
counter-clockwise loop from lone mountain trailhead, hitting the peak first, then the circumference of lone mountain
got going shortly after 0800
i've done the peak, but angela had not
lots of wilderflowers, including poppies, lupine, chia, and scorpionweed
spent just a few minutes on the summit enjoying the views
descended, then continued east on a good trail
abundant flowers all along the circumference
once we turned north, we had to cross a number of drainages
these were steep with loose rock and scree, and slowed us both down quite a bit
angela kindly let me use one of her hiking poles, which helped tremendously
maybe i should start bringing mine? i seem to borrow @lindaann's quite often
the trail became less distinct and more overgrown on the north side, still with a few drainage crossings
the west side was somewhat better
our recommendation would be to hit the peak, go east about a mile, enjoy the flowers, then return
still a good hike, a nice day with good company
saw one deer and had great scenery
had a nice lunch at red white and brew
decided i would hit 9L peak after that
not far out of the way, and i needed the peak
less than a mile
good views of the supes and goldfields - worth doing once
thanks for hiking, angela - it's been too long |
