Was stymied about 3 to 4 weeks ago due to the volume of water here. Less water made for easier getting around the pools but still enough to make it interesting. Intermittently hearing the sounds of running water was also nice, may not last too long unless more rain is coming. Peralta road continues to be graded and getting smoother, lot was 1/2 full when I left and full on my return, presumed most headed up Peralta trail. The volunteer ranger thought there was a bighorn on the west side of Peralta canyon, I checked as I was ascending Bluff Spring Trail but never saw one. Met no one else on this trail or in the canyon and actually only passed 2 hikers on Dutchman trail on the return. Once the canyon widened and the smooth rock vanished the grasses and vegetation increased, followed a couple of game trails that resulted in more bushwhacking and backtracking finally emerging on Dutchman 104. |
