Another chamber of commerce weather day in the Superstition Wilderness. Parked at Peralta Trailhead and hiked down to Carney Springs area ,on Goldmine Trail , headed up the signed Wave Cave Trail. Somebody had a full can of white spray paint to decorate the rocks and enhance directions to the Wave Cave ,ironically except at the turnoff for west boulder saddle. Don’t be afraid to continue on however as the vegetation has decided to sprout green ribbons to guide you up to the saddle. Seems each year I have to stop and take more pictures on the way up . Walked a few steps along the ridgeline, in order to check that one off for 2020, then headed down to the pools of water at the beginning of West Boulder Canyon then on to the cairned route passing by Robbers Roost . Dropping down to Fremont Saddle I was greeted by the sound of “Amazing Grace” and other hymns echoing down the canyon performed by a small group of young ladies. Continued to periodically hear them as I proceeded down Cave Trail. Except for the hikers and singers at Fremont Saddle passed by no one else on the trail today. Enjoyed the awesome scenery on this little travelled route. |
