Made the mistake of looking at the map of planned trails published by the park assuming they'd follow their own planned route. Ha! Whichever city employee put that map together is a waste of taxpayer money. Started on Desert Classic then north on Beverly Canyon, following what was supposed to be the route. But of course it wasn’t the route—they’d lopped off the southern part of the loop. By the time I got to the dirt road/Pima Wash junction, I decided to head back to the trailhead and start the loop the opposite direction, since I knew there were trail signs on that end.
From the trailhead, I headed east on what used to be East loop. Followed that all the way around the perimeter of the park north and west over to Beverly Canyon, following the Pima Canyon Loop signs the entire way. Took Beverly Canyon south to the road, where the signs end again, then the road back to the trailhead. Not an exciting loop, and a fair amount of traffic noise, but an easy loop. Probably something that would mostly appeal to trail runners, tourists, kids, or anyone looking for an easy stroll. Warm this morning, but a nice breeze at times. |
