invitation from bruce to join the gang for one of his favorite loops
started from 260 trailhead around 0745, heading west on the highline
cool temps, good trail conditions
we took a snack break at the drew intersection then headed up
once up on the rim, i was attacked by mosquitos, but only for a short time - weird
cross country to woods canyon lake, then along the north side of the lake
hadn't been to the lake since 2011

we took a lunch break there and soon after saw a bald eagle and nest
continued along woods canyon creek
some deadfall and a few creek crossings
exited into a meadow, then easy off trail to military sinkhole
it's been ten years since i hiked this one so nice to be on these trails again
an interesting loop on a beautiful day with a fun crew - had a great time

kinda like this retirement thing
