Had to get out for another practice hike and see how I was doing. A normal hike, thank goodness. Quite a few folks and dogs out for a Wed. AM. The clouds were beautiful to the south and east so I took a few more photos than I intended. And occasionally, the sun would take a dip behind the clouds which made it so nice out for me. From the bottom of the hill, I hiked counterclockwise on the route I intended last Sat. I ran into a fellow who said he saw coyotes on both sides of the mountain.

I stepped aside for one grump and her happy dog on the trail as I made my way around the southwest side. I stepped aside a few more times that most people at least, greeted me. Not much blooming now. A few lizards scampered around. I made a stop at the Lookout Park before continuing on around the east side. I stopped to ask a couple if they were okay as they seemed like they might be lost but they were okay.
Not too far from the trailhead I ran into two gals from the Animal Humane Society who also looked lost but they assured me they were okay. They were looking for a hiker with a dog down. I sure hope they found them. I did see a ranger truck head up as I was concluding my hike. UPDATE 5-4-2024

Along with her severe dehydration, Casados believes Bright Eyes had also been without food for a significant amount of time due to the poor condition she was found in. He estimated that she had been stranded in the preserve for at least several days.
The pup's name is Bright Eyes and is/was put up for adoption.
As I was starting my last little southwest loop, the birds were providing background music :) for my podcast. I wondered how many people had that privilege while listening to a podcast. The clouds were also playing in the sky so I had to take a couple more pictures. I stopped to smell the roses before taking Tonto 3 and me home. I do think I have to throw in the towel and get the right hip/leg checked. I keep thinking it's going to get better and it seems better, but it's not :(

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
