| no partners | | Brief morning hike, up and back while we were waiting on the day's glacier flight status. It's a neat podocarp/hardwood forest hike that we did again later, after sunset to observe the numerous bioluminescent glowworms. There numbers and luminosity weren't as impressive as those in the North Island's Waitomo Caves, but still a fun and interesting night hike. Also at dusk, a circus of Kea had descended into town from the forest above and we're screeching "keeeeeaaaa"! "kee-ee-aa-aa"! "keeeeeaaaa"! Those feisty alpine parrots are perplexing badasses and silly at the same time.  |
