| no partners | | After hauling my 30# pack around for two days, about 13 miles, and too many vertical feet, I decided to check out this short sight-seeing trail because I'd never been there before. The idea of "springs" seemed appealing to me, but was a complete disappointment as 3 springs were dry, and the fourth one was nothing more than some mud. I assume these flowed more back when the cabins were used. And speaking of the cabin, apparently some hobbits lived there, as it doesn't appear to have collapsed, but still the doorway can't be more than 2.5 feet high. The area is quite scenic however, with the escarpment above the springs a highlight. There's a small cave by the springs, and some pictographs. Aspens abound. When you hike the loop, stay left and go clockwise. In fact, skip the loop, and head back the way you came after visiting the cabin and springs. The rest of the loop isn't very exciting! |

| | Luckily this isn't along a route somebody would be backpacking, because you'd be hard pressed to get anything drinkable out of this spring right now. | | _____________________
