| no partners | | I went back to this area to check some more trails that I saw a while back. I took the Cougar Trail south, then took the narrow unnamed trail that hugs the fenceline all the way down to the Old Horse Trail and headed east. I took the Quartz Ridge Trail south and took the one spur I saw 5 years ago, which didn't actually go far, just to a dirt road at the bottom of the hill. I decided to hike that road a bit and found that after a mile or so, it ends at Peralta Road. I turned back and too that road back up to the Old Horse Trail again and looped back onto the Quartz Ridge Trail. There was an even newer section I found that heads to the west and ends at the neighborhood. From there I took the narrow fence trail again back to trailhead.
Weather was super muggy and very hot. Breezes sometimes made it a little pleasant, but I was drenched for most of the hike. Saw one biker the whole time and saw a longhorn steer twice who was also walking the roads and trails. Finished up a little early and got out of the swampiness. |
