While Paradise was packed, I passed three skiers shortly after my start and saw three hikers on their way back soon after. Then I did not see a single soul the rest of the day! Could not believe it. Once on the ridge there was a snowshoe track for awhile but I eventually blazed my own path to our favorite lunch spot about a 0.6 miles south once you get to the ridge. While there had been some fresh snow, the snow under it was pretty solid so I didn't sink down hardly at all so even though I was "breaking trail" it was easy. very different from a few weeks ago when breaking trail was a tough slog. Enjoyed a long lunch with great views before heading back to Paradise the way I came. Still a zoo at Paradise when I returned. Tourist season is upon us as there was even a large tour bus in the parking lot. Le sigh. |
